Research Analyst - Healthcare & Life Sciences
ROLE SUMMARY AND DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
Our Research Department has the widest equity research coverage in our field across some twenty industry sectors with a pool of sector-focused Analysts. Research is produced on over 400 companies and the company was ranked No.1 in UK Mid & Small Cap Research in the 2022 Thompson Reuters Extel Survey for the fifth year in a row.
The team provide sector specialised research in UK Equities which is objective and authoritative in order to assist clients to make informed investment decisions. They turn the spotlight on the companies we follow, highlighting the opportunities and probing the challenges they face.
Responsibilities:
To deliver high quality research recommendations, from initial idea generation through to publication, including the economic, analytical and statistical testing required.
Maintain awareness of, and manage all, regulatory risk relevant to the business area through adhering to prescribed processes, procedures and mitigating controls
Industry and company research
Quantitative analysis
Company valuation analysis
Financial modelling
Attend sales meetings and results meetings
Attend presentations/pitches with colleagues from Investment Banking
Keep colleagues informed of specific research findings once published (i.e. addressing in the morning meeting)
Adhere to Compliance Manual
Ad hoc duties as required
Have an understanding of the regulatory environment, and values and abilities consistent with the FCA conduct rules
Key Capabilities and Knowledge:
A degree level education – preferably a 2.1 or above from a top University
A further/advanced degree (e.g. MSc/PhD) in a Healthcare & Life Science related subject is a clear advantage
While an ACA/CFA qualification is not a necessity, experience of working in finance, on capital markets or in Industry (Healthcare or Life Science) is also a distinct advantage
Experience creating financial models/forecasting
Strong communication skills
Comfortable in presenting complex topics to varied groups: from generalists to sector specialists
Strong numerical, analytical and report writing skills
